A mid-Wales waste disposal company has appeared before Welsh Deputy Traffic Commissioner Alan Bouriet after it allowed a driver to take his vehicle home at night and park it at its former operating centre, Aberystwyth-based Sun-dome Products (Llanidloes), trading as Evans Logistics, appeared before the DM at a Newtown public inquiry. The DTC was also considering an application to increase its licence from two vehicles and four trailers to three vehicles and five trailers.
Traffic examiner Him Thomas said out of 39 tacho charts, 38 showed one of the company's vehicles to be starting and finishing at Uanidloes.
The DTC pointed out that the Uanidloes operating centre had been deleted from the licence at the company's request For the company, Jonathan Lawton said the main operation was based at AberystwytfL The driver of the vehicle in question lived in Uanidloes and the company had not realised his parking amounted to keeping it at Llanidloes.
Taking fie action, and granting the additional vehicle and trailer, the DTC said: "Thirty eight occasions in a six-week period cannot be said to be an overnight stay for operational reasons."
