ISLINGTON BOROUGH Council has added a Modec electric vehicle to its fleet. The Modec went into service in June, as part of a range of green initiatives being employed by the council.
It will be used for highway maintenance and will be the first vehicle on call for emergency repairs in the night due to its virtually silent operation. It can travel at up to 50mph while carrying a payload of two tonnes.
Modec vehicles have zero emissions and are battery powered.
