The INT accepts that its guidelines on securing loads do not cover all circumstances, and hints that it might change them in the light of the TRL research: Our code of practice in the safety of loads sets out the general requirements and basic principles of load safety, and provides advice on satisfactory methods for securing the more common types of load,
The variety of loads, vehicles and operating conditions make it impossible to cover all the circumstances likely to be encountered by drivers and operators, including those experienced during a collision.
"We are in contact with the FTA and TRL and will be kept informed as the research progresses. We will be considering any proposals as emerging findings become available."
