Accuracy testing
Referring to the letters from Reg C E'plett (CM 1-7 May) and Geoff Morritt (CM 15-21 May) regarding chart accuracy. It would appear that charts have been compared for accuracy in a pile by lining up the hours. Any attempt to determine accuracy in this way will show time discrepancies because it is impossible to perfectly line up the centre boss without using a specialised piece of equipment designed for this purpose. Tachodisc is authorised by the Department of Transport to manufacture discs to the legal standard. Production is subject to strict surveillance by the VCA and BSI, and accuracy is checked daily in-house using advanced measuring equipment, calibrated to EEC legislation 382/85.
Tachodisc's manufacturing process prevents any discrepancy outside legal tolerances.
