PACKAGES of rural services provided by independent operators could lead to an expansion of services, leading transport solicitor John Backhouse argued last week.
He was giving evidence to the North Western Traffic Commissioners in support of Les Hughes Transport Services' application to run five services in the Rhyl and Colwyn Bay area (CM, July 17). Mr Backhouse told the hearing that the services sought were not all potential profit earners, and suggested that Crosville Motor Services which, in common with local authorities, is opposing the application, was an expensive provider of bus services.
Like the Yeowarts application (CM, March 12), this one has been adjourned until next month to consider further objections.
