TDG picks adaptable Lawrence David steel trailer to enhance efficiency

LAWRENCE DAVID has designed a versatile 45ft trailer for carrying steel products which will be used by TDG on its Con's contract. It can handle beams and tubes up to 13.6m long, coils of strip steel and wire rod, as well as sheets of plate steel. TDG says the trailer's ability to carry a greater variety of steel products will help operators find return loads.

Initially three will go into operation, but TDG hopes many more will follow in the coming months. Operations director Mark Starosolsky says the idea for the trailer came from TDG operations planners and took "a matter of monthsto design.

Chris Wimhurst, Corus's director of logistics, explains that the trailer supports the company's twin objectives of improving operating efficiency and environmental awareness.
