FIVE Mini-mobile goanywhere vehicles, produced by Stonefield Vehicles Ltd of Cumnock in Scotland, have been ordered by Marconi Communication Systems Ltd for overseas clients.
The vehicle is powered by a 6-cylinder petrol engine giving a maximum output of 100kW (135bhp) with a 6x4 configuration driving through the front two axles and the rear axle trailing.
The vehicle is claimed to be able to climb very steep gradients when fully laden. In stability tests carried out at London Transport's bus depot, the vehicle tilted to 28 degrees on the chassis and 38 degrees on the body.
Right or left, forwardcontrolled cabs accommodate the driver as well as the cameraman, operating through the roof hatch. The interior provides a floor-toroof height of 1.8m (Gift) with accommodation for a total of four people. Independent sets of air conditioning units control the environment in both personnel and cargo compartments.
The roof has been specially strengthened to support the weight of a roof-mounted camera and operator.
