Alright, TGA has gone, but the driveline hasn’t. So if you are considering an MAN tractor then concentrate on the engine because it’s underneath the new generation of TGX and TGS.
It delivered a winning performance on mpg alone and the fact it doesn’t require AdBlue means the cost per 100km only widens between it and SCR rivals. With this in mind, the £500 annual VED rebate for Euro-5 only goes some way to compensating the extra cost if our test figures are anything to go by. Only time will tell if MAN can match its Euro-4 performances at Euro-5, but that issue is two years away at best. Today MAN, its D20 engine and EGR, leads the way.

Anyone who bought Euro-4 (or Euro-5 for that matter) back in 2007 should be reaping the benefits today. Residual values, as the examples provided by CAP, show that demand is clearly outstripping supply. And as for the truck itself, it duly positioned itself at the front of the queue with a cracking fuel run.
