• Re your letter from E Cryer who seems disappointed by the scrapping of next year's CV show at the NEC and blames it on the "apathy of manufacturers" (CM 5-11 Nov). As a company that has supported all of the
NEC shows and also the IRTE shows since the days of table tops at Solihull, we feel well qualified to comment.
Shows need exhibitors and an audience to succeed, and our feeling at the last Motor Show was very much that it was probably the last one we would attend because support from the buyers and engineers was certainly not forthcoming in any great numbers. At previous shows we had always had a good record of enquiries and this was notably lacking at the last show Therefore, along with colleagues in other companies, we have to look at alternative ways of showing our products, and consistently over the years the IRTE has shown itself to be very good value for money, both in stand cost, hotel cost, and the large numbers of trade visitors, our audience, who support the show.
As one of the old faces who continually does the same trick at the same exhibition, and ultitely gets the reward which is increased sales, we say good luck to the IRTE, Tipcon, and any other small show which gets us in front of the audience.
