• The first Mercedes-Benz 2235 air-suspended 38-tonne drawbar outfits to run on Irish roads have entered service with Dublin haulier Blueflite.
Local bodybuilder Coachcraft built the 7.32m GRP swap bodies, which demount using Wihag systems; the York-based trailers connect to their prime movers via GLZ close couplers. This allows compatibility with other Blueflite vehicles having standard towing fitments.
Trailers are rated at 18 tonnes and the units at 22 tonnes, thanks to lifting/ trailing axles.
Side skirts are modelled on the German Topaz tanker and the trucks, with their cab-roof and side deflectors, are ABS/ASR equipped.
