• Stockton-on-Tees-based Inclitell has developed a truck body balancing device that helps the driver to manceuvre into a safe position for tipping, and then monitors the side angle during discharge.
The system uses a sensor to monitor the side angle to within 3.5mm while tipping, and when preset levels are exceeded an alarm is activated. According to Inclitell the device, which retails at £299 and carries a two-year warranty, will enable artic tippers to operate using 6 x 4 tractor units, where only 8x4 rigids are currently used.
Two major trailer manufacturers are expected to offer the system as a delete option on new trailers and for retro-fitting to existing models.
An added feature when used with on-board weighing equipment is the ability to modify the signal obtained on uneven ground to one that is gained from a horizontal position.
This, says Inclitell, results in accurate weighing on slopes of up to 33.3% (I-in-3).
