• Tankers ferrying vital water supplies into drought-hit Bradford have fallen foul of a police crackdown on vehicle safety. Out of 12 vehicle stopped, four tractor units and five trailers were issued with immediate prohibitions and one trailer received a delayed prohibition. The checks were carried out just a few hundred yards from Yorkshire Water's treatment centre in Bradford. A Yorkshire Water spokesman says the checks didn't cause any delays.
