TOYOTA HAS launched a new version of its Hilux pickup, introducing a 3.0-litre engine.
The Extra Cab will only be available in four-wheel drive, and includes two occasional rear seats.
Like the double and single-cab models, its 2.5-litre D-4D Euro-4 engine receives a power upgrade from 101hp to 118hp. Peak torque is up too, by 25% to 325Nm.
Also boosting the Hilux's power is a Euro-4 3.0-litre D-4D with 169hp on tap, available with a four-speed auto box. It is housed beneath a new-look bonnet with charge-cooler bulge.
The Extra Cab hits the forecourts on 1 November with prices starting at £14,195; the revised single and double cabs, along with the 3.0-litre engine, will arrive on 16 January 2007.
