• A Surrey owner-driver plans to carry on working despite winning more than 11.2m on the National Lottery.
Farnham-based Maurice Malin, an owner-driver for 10 years, hopes the 11,217,493 windfall will not change him. He says: "I'm not going to give up working because I've worked hard to build things up and pay for my holidays. Transport has been part of my life for 25 years and I hope it's going to stay like that. I particularly enjoy meeting people."
Malin runs two tippers on sand and aggregates haulage. He says business is very competitive at the moment and he expects it to get even tougher when the new landfill tax conies in in October (see feature, page 12).
"I've become established in the area, I haven't been a here today, gone tomorrow type of person," he says.
