Leyland Motors in its centenary year comes Leyland Lorries—A Celebration, by Arthur Ingram and published by Nynehead Books. Described as "a photographic celebration of the products of Leyland Motors from its inception in 1896 to its absorption within BLMC in 1968", the hardback lives up to its publicity by printing wellreproduced photographs on every one of its 128 pages. These range from black and white pictures of the earliest vehicles, including working steam wagons, to handsome colour plates from the mid sixties. Looking at the surprisingly old-fashioned vehicles in the latter, you realise the once-swinging 1960s have now receded some way into the past, not unlike the Hawk's waistline. This is definitely one worth considering for the Christmas stocking. Copies are 219.95 and are available from Nynehead Books, phone 01823 46 1 997.
