E1/2m boost A PARTS and service centre costing Si million was opened last week by Kirkby Central Ltd at Anston near Sheffield.
The new complex provides a hi* expansion to Kirkby's existing premises designed to cover parts storage, workshop areas, body repair shop, spray shop, office accommodation, degreasing facilities, dynamometer and brake test areas.
The opening ceremony was carried out by Bob Price, chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors, With Shaw Taylor as guest speaker.
Kirkby managing director Stuart Johnson told CM that greatly increased business in distributing new Bedford and Leyland psv required a new service facility to be built.
Work on all aspects of the design proceeded simulatneously with the result that tenders were invited only 13 weeks after the initial briefing of the design team, and all contracts were let in a further 45 weeks.
