TO EASE the problems of transporting loads which are bulky rather than heavy, Wisdom and Co Ltd of Dudley Road, Wolverhampton has produced the Space Trailer 285.
So called because of its carrying capacity of 285cuft (or Scum) the trailer has an all-welded steel tubular structive with an aluminium skin. Dependent on the load, it can be towed behind any suitable car or light van.
Ford faults
FORD dealers are to check the steering shafts of around 16,000 Escort vans produced at Halewood between January 1975 and March 1976.
Several cars produced in this period have been found to have maladjusted steering shafts which could lead to spline wear.
The vehicle inspection and any necessary readjustment will be carried out free of charge.
A Perkins pass
THE PERKINS six-cylinder 6.247 diesel engine has passed the exhaust emission tests which will enable it to be certified for use in the United States.
In addition, the opacity of the smoke, the emissions of nitrous oxide, carban monoxide and hydrocarbons are also measured.
The test procedure of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) involves two engines operating at the worst conditions they are likely to meet in service — at maximum rated power and speed, maximum inlet restriction and exhaust back pressures.
Lit up
THE Airshield wind deflector i§ now available in illuminated form. A driver controlled fluorescent light illuminates the unit from inside powered by an ordinary 220@240v ac tube (as used in the home or office) while the system is powered from an inverter-ballast to convert from 12 or 24v dc.
UK agent for Airshield equipment, CT (London) Ltd, 3 Hobart Place, SW1, says the illuminated units willbe available in the same size range as standard deflectors.
