The bus proprietors operating from Airdrie to Harthill and Airdrie to Shotts, the former being 10 miles long and the latter 12 miles long, have come to an agreement, in conjunction with Airdrie Burgh Police, whereby all roads have been relegated to certain companies, without opposition. The new system is working smoothlY and should go 0. long way towards eliminating rac
ing on the road, thus reducing the risk of accidents. The companies concerned include the Lanarkshire Tramways Co. ; Messrs. Greenshields Brothers, Saleburgh; Messrs. Muir, Salsburgh, and Messrs. Bryce Brothers, Chapelhall.
Two other routes, namely. AirdrieCaldercruix, and Airdrie to Hamilton, are operated under a similar agreement. On the former route the Lanarkshire
Tramways Co. were running a 20minute service, but so numerous were the buses in opposition that the company discontinued that service on the 15th of last month. On the latter route the Lanarkshire Tramways Co. and Messrs. Currie and Thomson, Calderbank, maintain a 10-minute service per agreement, and this arrangementworks well and benefits the public.
