REDUCTIONS in services operated by Manchester Corporation Transport are called for in a transport committee report being presented to the City Council today.
Mr. E. H. Stiff, clerk to the committee, told CM that it was likely that the department would break even this year, but that difficulties would be experienced next year. Recommendations had been submitted designed to offset a possible deficit.
A six per cent reduction in services was thought to be necessary to check an estimated £500,000 deficit.
• PUBLICANS in County Durham have asked the Northern LA to arrange special buses for customers who do not use their cars in case they are stopped by the Police for a breathalyser test. The LA has advised the publicans to take up the matter with the bus companies.
