Dennison leads the UK market for skeletal trailers and is selling
an increasing number
of curtainsiders — but who'd have predicted traditional flatbeds to be a 21 st-centtirv growth market Andy
Salter --westtgates. Dennison Trailers is enjoying significant growth in its curtainsider business, according to MD James Dennison. "We've sold more curtainsiders during 2005 than ever before," he reports. "We've been building this type of trailer for five years now and we've been pushing hard. both on the
engineering side and the sales.We've now got a fully optimised product."
Dennison is best known in the UK for its domination of the skeletal trailer sector, but while skel lies remain an important business, James Dennison is fully aware that growth will only come through expansion into new areas.
If you need volume, you have to look at the curtainsider market." he says."If Dennison Trailers is going to be there then we have to ensure we're doing it better than anyone else."
Flatbed renaissance a premium for flat trailer work.
By way of comparison, the market for Dermison'ssliding-hogie tipping trailer is proving a tougher nut to crack.Although the firm has had considerable success with this product in Ireland. UK operators seem to be unconvinced of its merits.
"It's more manoeuvrable, has a better payload and will give better fuel economy than an eight-wheeler." says Dennison. He hopes that a potential joint-venture with Weightlifter for the sale and marketing of sliding-bogie tippers might unlock its obvious potential.
