Last week we looked at upcoming arrivals in the used truck market; this time we turn our attention to the used van sector.
THE USED VAN sector will be spiced up next year as greater volumes of recent launches return to the marketplace.
Leading the charge will be Volkswagen's revamp of (he Transporter. A strong vehicle in its own right, the new-look Transporter has confirmed VW's place as a leading manufacturer of vans.
The kudos of the VW badge faded in the 1990s hut these days it's right back at the top of the tree when it comes to desirability.
The Volkswagen T28 was launched in mid-2(X)3 and has trickled into the used market producing strong residuals, though prices are likely to fall a little as more arrive.
Strong products Vauxhall, Renault and Nissan, purveyors of the 3.5-tonne panel vans dubbed Movano, Master and lntrastar respectively, should also have greater volumes on the open market in 2006.
These are strong products with a decent 2.5-litre engine and plenty of options Nissan's version has done well as it arrived later than the previous two, which underwent a facelift in 2003.
For the Italians,the revamped
Daily 35S12 that debuted in 1'003 should be a welcome boost in the used market for IvecaThe Daily doesn't have the status of some of its competitors but the HPill 6hp engine—the one to keep an eye out for—is one of the more powerful options in this sector of the market. •
