PRESTONS OF POTTO suffered a £82,000 pre-tax loss last year, but improved on 2003 when it lost more than £120,000.
However, the Northallertonbased haulage contractor had to increase its turnover by 23.2m to £23.2m during the year to keep its losses below 2100,000.
Chairman Anne Preston remains optimistic, describing the results as "normal'', 'Fuel costs had a severe impact last year. [But] Prestons of Potto are lucky we have tremendous assets. We're very lucky with our depots; we're in a strong position with four Si7eable depots." The accounts suggest the value of Prestons fixed assets valued at 25.2m is "considerably in excess of the written value". Financial controller, Stephen Deighten, says. "Most of it is down to our depots Four haven't been revalued in the past 15 years." christopher.tindall@ rbi.co.uk
