I READ WITH amusement the letter from Mr Rigby in the 27 November issue headed You must be joking'. It's Mr Rigby that must be! It would appear that good drivers are in short supply, not the bosses. Mr Rigby must be unaware that the country now offers secure parking areas for drivers and trucks, fully equipped with showers etc.
I do believe that when drivers have nights out the allowance given is for that purpose, not just for going into their back pocket. No driver I know would be prepared to sleep in a lay-by or urinate in a Pepsi bottle.Anyway, I thought this practice was illegal as most lay-bys now have 'no overnight parking' signs displayed.
I suggest Mr Rigby looks for alternative employment, preferably outside the haulage industry. As the saying goes,"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Too many people nowadays are moaning and whinging about their jobs —just get on with it or leave and give someone else a chance to prove themself.
