• More jobs are to go within Carlsberg-Tetley's distribution operation as the brewery continues its cost-cutting exercise with the closure of three more depots.
By February next year 12 drivers will be made redundant by the closure of the north Wales depots at Newtown, Llandudno and Wrexham. Most of the other drivers will be re-deployed at a new Llandudno site.
The decision follows a review of distribution and production strategy following January's merger of Carlsberg and Allied Breweries into Carlsberg-Tetley. The three depots had previously been run by Allied. The jointventure company's use of "several" outside transport contractors is not threatened by the changes, says the company, but is under "usual constant review".
Carlsberg-Tetley has already closed seven depots at Edinburgh, Stafford, Willesden, Hull, Yate, Nailsea and Marshfield, with the loss of 100 jobs.
