• Eighty drivers and warehouse staff at Birtley, Co Durham working on Wincanton's food distribution contracts were balloted last week by the Transport and General Workers Union.
The 30 drivers were offered 1.44%. The 50 warehouse staff were offered a £3 flat-rate supplement and a Christmas bonus of £50. The warehouse workers have rejected the offer.
