POLICE ARE HUNTING a gang who left a truck driver needing hospital treatment for burns after throwing a liquid in his face in Wales.
The attack happened between 3am and 5am last Wednesday (23 June). The 46-year-old driver was unloading supplies from the rear of his truck at the Aldi store in Blackwood when he heard a loud noise near his cab. Investigating, he found three teenage boys. wearing dark hooded clothing. As he confronted them a liquid was thrown in his face causing intense burning and pain. The victim was then prodded with an instrument, which gave him a shock causing his muscles to spasm and temporary paralysis.
He was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital where he received treatment and was later released.
Detective Sergeant Horton from Gwent Police says: "This was a distressing incident for the driver. We are obviously anxious to apprehend the offenders and locate the items which were used to incapacitate him."
