• It must be in writing; • It has to be for a specified period not exceeding five years; • It must apply to all relevant members of the workforce, or to all those in a particular group: • It must be slgned; • Text of the agreement must be made available to all workers before the date they are required to sign it: • It has to be agreed with workforce representatives who are elected by secret ballot; • No worker who is eligible to be a candidate can be "unreasonably excluded" from standing; • Each employee must have a vote for each representative to be elected to represent them; • Where a union is recognised the terms are incorporated in a collective agreement.
