• One of the country's oldest heavy truck dealers has been rescued from receivership by a rival MercedesBenz agent. Cossington Commercial Vehicles in Leicester was taken over by receiver Ernst & Young a fortnight ago, but was bought last week by Warrington's Enza Motors for an undisclosed sum. A spokesman for Mercedes-Benz, which has 66 heavy truck dealerships in the UK, said it would be "business as usual" for Cossington customers.
Enza managing director Alec Brown said he was still studying Cossington's outstanding commitments, but promised to write to all existing customers to 'reassure them that they will not be inconvenienced". Enza, which now has three Mercedes-Benz outlets and claims to be the marque's largest independent dealer, has guaranteed staff that there will be no redundancies at Cossington.
But Brown says he plans to cut the dealership's 'considerable" overheads by relocating if nearer to the centre of Leicester.
