• Volvo Trucks and SaxonSanbec, of Cheshire, have won an order to supply seven fire engines to the Devon Fire and Rescue Service, The order follows the delivery of 34 identical units to the London brigade last month.
'Ile aluminium-framed and bodied vehicles were built by Saxon-Sanbec, on a Volvo FL614 chassis. They have sixcylinder Volvo turbo-charged diesel engines, which produce 164kW through Allison MT643 automatic gearboxes.
Each one can carry 1,800 litres of water.
