• Pallet maker WH Shaw & Son has bought six Seddon Atkinson Strato twin-steer tractor units in a deal which includes full maintenance. The company, based near Oldham, says it will save the firm hundreds of thousands of pounds over the next five years when compared with contract hire packages, Shaw & Son will use the Cummins E365-powered trucks to pull 12 new Crane Fruehauf trailers. Ironically, the trailers, mostly reconditioned Crane Fruehaufs, were acquired on contract hire from TIP because it was cheaper.
