Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFTER a sitting of the Northern Licensing Authority at Darlington last week, the application by Reliance Ltd. of Stockton. for a two-vehicle C to B switch was again adjourned (see The Comnrercial Motor, October 25). But a short-term licence for one of the vehicles was granted until a substantive decision was reached.

Evidence on behalf of the applicant was given by Mr. R. Smith, works

manager of Laurence Brown and Sons Ltd., building contractors, who said his company often called on Reliance, but because of a shortage of vehicles, sometimes could not get the work done.

Mr. J. Robey, for a number of hauliers in the Middlesbrough area, objected to the application for the shortterm licence and said: "The hearing has been adjourned at the request of the applicant, not us."
