LASER TRANSPORT International Ltd, the Hythe. Kent-based global freight and groupage specialist, saw revenue and profits rise in 2008, admitting that it was conlident of achieving some growth in 2009.
The Palletways member saw profit rise from £132,945 in 2007 to £140,468 in 2008, while turnover rose from £16.39m in 2007 to £18.16m in 2008. A statement by chairman John Smith said that margins were "savagely eroded" in the latter half of last year, largely through the increasing impact of the weak pound, while the SeaFrance strike and the Channel Tunnel fire increased operating costs in its European Groupage division.
