// A fter reading the many
accounts regarding the M25 roadworks around the Reigate area, I wish to add another view to the problem —that of coaches. I am a regular user of the M2..5 by coach and am appalled at the finish of the so-called lip of tarmac on the hard shoulder. Coaches, just like other commercials, have terrible problems keeping a straight line of travel which can be quite disturbing to the passengers. There is also a curious piece of kerbing just under one of the bridges before the off ramp which, if inadvertently caught, throws you sideways into the path of any vehicle in the middle lane. This kerb is black and is invisible until it is too late to avoid.
Over the past few weeks I have seen commercials nearly come to grief. The drivers of these, on the whole, stick to the speed limit and stay in the appropriate lane. The M25 is a dangerous place when it is not being dug up, and now it has been turned into a death trap.
The question is: "Why did the planners of the M25 get their sums so badly wrong
that the road needs extra carriageways after such a short time of use?" Let us hope that the problems will soon be cured properly before someone dies.
