It will be seen that a total distance of 400 miles was covered, of which only 18 miles was light running, whilst no less a sum than £24 odd was earned by the wagon. The average load works out at 5.13 tons over the 382 miles which were covered in a laden condition. Small wonder that Mr. Mitchell is so pleased with the vehicle that he has placed another order with Messrs. T. Coulthard and Co., Ltd., of Cooper Road, Preston. Results of this kind are sure to lead other people who have suitable traffic to adopt heavy motor vehicles of this character. The wagon has performed s.o consistently on its regular route, quite apart from the special task of which an account has been given, that several orders have been placed with the makers by mill-owners who have observed its running. Messrs. R. Walker and Sons, manufacturers, of Rutland Street, Leicester, who own several large mills in that town and the immediate neighbourhood, have sent us a photograph of their Foden steam wagon and a detailed report of its working since the date of purchase in January, tgo3.
