FIVE NEW delivery vehicles with bodywork by Hartford Motors (Lincolnshire) Ltd of Grimsby have recently gone into service with Creamery Fare Continental Ice Cream Ltd of London.
The van body has been lined with Propylex — British Celanese propylene sheet — which is capable of operating within a temperature range of —20°C to + 110°C (-4°F to ± 230°F). A refrigeration unit is fitted inside each vehicle, which can be operated throughout the night via the mains electrical supply.
The Propylex sheet is screwed to a wooden batten frame, then polyurethane foam is applied to the sheets between the battens. This foamed material is then sliced down to the required thickness and aluminium exterior cladding is screwed to the battens.
