A SPECIALLY converted Roman R8 135F has gone into operation with W. Services, of Gt. Yarmouth, running undef contract to general importet Frans Maas.
The conversion carried out by Roman main dealers, Oakleys of Ware, has involved removing the back of the original short cab and welding in an extra section 305mm (12in) wide to turn the Roman into a single-bunk sleepei truck.
Imports
The Roman, plated at 12.1 tonnes gvw with a payloac capacity of around 8.6 tonne! is clocking up over 1,600 krr (1,000 miles) a week.
It is transporting genera imports from FelixstowE docks to London and thE surrounding areas with ful return loads for export.
The naturally aspiratec six-cylinder engine, whict incorporates the patentec high-swirl 'M' Type combus. tion system, develops 101k‘k (135bhp).
The transmission specification includes a ZF five-speec gearbox and a hub-reductior rear axle.
