by Colin Barnett • The proposed merger between Dennis and Henlys (CM 6-12 August) has developed into a boardroom battle. Henlys' rival Mayflower, the vehicle body building group, immediately reacted to the proposed merger by launching a hostile £255m bid for the bus chassis and specialist vehicle maker. Since the original offer, Volvo has stepped in to support Henlys' position by announcing its intention to buy 10% of the Henlys Group. Last Friday Henlys tabled an improved offer of shares and cash for Dennis.
