"Road marking is very poor and white lines are not being maintained," he states. "If a lorry driver is in a strange town, often they rely on the markings to show where to go," Britain's record may compare well with the rest of Europe, he adds, but there is still a long way to go.
"I don't think we can be proud of our record until we don't kill anyone," believes Barnes. "Then it's a job well done."
