While we realize Mr. J. G. Bisiker was referring to the 6,000-gallon aluminium articulated tankers operated by his own and some other large oil companies, the general impression given is that the features mentioned are a common fault on all tankers of this capacity. In fact the 6,000-gallon M.S. articulated tankers (as illustrated) which are in service with a number of companies are one of a stock range manufactured by our company which employs a king-pin to centre-line rear bogie distance of only 20ft. The overall length is under 40ft, and the complete vehicle is designed to allow maximum manoeuvrability while every effort has been made to keep the centre of gravity and overall height to a minimum, these being at least as low as on the vehicles referred to in the article. Some of the tankers have been fitted with anti-jackknifing devices, while others rely on load-sensing valves and none have experienced incidents of the type mentioned by various speakers.
