by Steve Sturgess • US specialist truck manufacturer Marmon Motor Co has ended series production. It ceased production of its range of custom-made bonneted trucks last month, following the announcement that Mormon's Garland plant is to build Navistar's North American International Paystar trucks under contract.
The Paystar, Navistar's heavy-duty truck for US and Canadian markets, was previously built at Navistar's plant in Ontario, Canada. But capacity there is being freed For 9000Series International-bodged models.
Marmon dates back to the Marmon-Herrington company founded by Walter Marmon and Arthur Herrington in 1931. Its 4x4s and 6x6s were used extensively by the US army.
