Asked how much the company makes in proftts. Adams admits it is not enough. On last year's turnover of £22m, Taylors recorded a pre-tax profit of £600.000 and the company is on course to make around the same amount this year. By any standards this is not enough, but it is higher than many of Its competitors and the company is addressing the issue. Adams says the company has come close to walking away from some of its recent contract renewals, and it is clearly moving towards expanding the added value side of its business at the expense of general haulage. In Adams, the Taylor family have clearly found a formidable accountant, who is able to look closely at the profit In every deal. Sadly, it looks as though the company is to quietly switch Its name to TM Logistics, although it will be done over a period of time, as a blg switch has been branded too expensive.
Finally, you get the impression this is a company at a crossroads. Having made some structural changes, it will be interesting to see whether it can go on and become a company to truly rival the biggest logistics providers. Place your bets please...
