PLANS by Corrall Transport Ltd.—part of the Powell Duffryn Group—to expand its trade in East Anglia and the East Midlands are spearheaded by the opening of' a new warehouse in Cambridge. The warehouse, with 660,000 cu. ft. of space over a 30,000 sq. ft. floor area,. more than doubles the company's storage capacity there.
It will enable Corrall to develop in East Anglia its storage, stock control and road distribution service covering a wide range of packaged goods. The Company is promoting the service through a direct mail campaign aimed at manufacturers and suppliers.
Mr. Alan McFarlin, managing director of Corral], says: "As well as developing our storage and distribution activities in the area, we are planning to expand our commercial vehicle contract hire service in which we are already active in London and South-East England."
The new warehouse is next to the original Corrall premises in Newmarket Road—the A45 —in the outskirts of Cambridge. Managed by Mr. Ray Bennion, it has a staff of 35.
Handling equipment at the new warehouse includes a roller conveyor system, elevators and two forklift trucks with 6,000 lb. lift capacities. As another aid to economic handling and transport, the company also uses demountable van bodies.
