CM spoke to three companies with differing agendas:
• Oneview.net targets the small and medium-size business sector, and offers you a four-page website, hosting and e-mail in a threeyear agreement. Very basic packages start at .220 per month, • Webfusion Internet Solutions will provide you with the space to set up your own site for a fee, and will then leave it pretty much up to you. It is a step up from using space from your free service provider (such as Freeserve), which is invariably slower to use, and one level below getting a web designer to do everything for you.
• Infosis designed CM'S own website. Take a look at www.roadtransportmet and see what you think. The company offers a wide range of web design services.
It is possible to run your site off a dedicated computer on your premises which is permanently connected to the web, but most smaller businesses are unlikely to be able to justify the time, effort and cost of this. And remember that, as with magazines and courses, there are a lot of other web design or hosting companies out there, so take a look at what they have to offer.
