• The spate of arson attacks hitting British hauliers this summer continued when a Sussex farm feed depot was torched last week.
Vehicles and buildings belonging to Heritage Farm Feeds at Halnaker, near Chichester were set alight in a £750,000 blaze. Later a telephone call to the local television station claimed animal rights protesters were responsible.
Firefighters battling the flames had to contend with exploding cans of petfood and aerosol canisters.
The firm, which is a distributor but not a manufacturer of animal feeds, has borrowed vehicles to continue business.
