The two-axle rigid market is enjoying something of a boom, say dealers, with the main interest focusing on the 18-tonne products.
"There's a lot of interest in 18-tonne curtainsiders with sleeper cabs and tuckaway lifts," says Barry Browning of Andover, Hants, Mercedes-Benz dealership Pentagon.
"There's such a demand that we've just paid £3,000 over the retail book figure for one, and we're confident we'll get our money back," he continues. "Dating back to 2005, it's got a 27ft body, an air deflector kit, and air horns."
"Customers are certainly after boxand curtainsider-bodied 18and 26-tonners," agrees Nigel Sharp of Daf dealership F&G Commercials, "That's what we're finding, especially if they're late-registered, low-mileage, and wet-equipped. There's also a lot of interest in 10-to 13-tonners that fall into that category too," says Mike Curtis of Daf dealership Watts.
