The C-track tracking system installed in Wales & West Utilities 750-strong fleet has twice helped the company thwart attempts by thieves to vehicles. This first target was a Ford Transit and the second a £20,000 mini excavator from a work site in Merthyr Tydfil, while being used for essential maintenance work. Despite the best efforts of the thieves to disable and remove the C-track device, the company was able to liaise with Police to enable the safe return of the digger from a lock-up on a nearby industrial development.
Jeanette Morgan, fleet technical assistant at Wales & West Utilities, says: "Vehicle
and equipment theft represents a costly risk to our business, so in recent years we have
invested heavily in tracking technology to better protect our mobile assets. These recent incidents demonstrate the value the system provides."
