NEW regulations on the lead content of petrol will bring Britain in line with EEC directive 78/611/EEC by 1981.
From January 1, 1981, the maximum permitted level of lead in petrol for motor vehicles will be 0.40 grammes per litre, and the test method for lead will be changed to the iodine monochloride method stipulated in BS5657 of 1978.
