GREATER London Council denied to CM this week that any part of its future roads plan is secret.

A newspaper report suggested that plans were being drawn up for an east-west lorry route linking the M40 Westway to docklands, with a £400,000 40 per cent expansion of City Road as its first stage.

But a GLC official told CM: "The £400,000 scheme is no secret, and there is no plan for an east-west lorry route."

The City Road plan calls for major site clearance work in Central London and is now the subject of public consultation.
