• Harold and Harry Welsby, trading as Welsby Bros, of Manchester, surrendered their national licence shortly before being due to appear at disciplinary proceedings before North Western LA Martin Albu.
Short licence
• Maintenance problems have led to the duration of the licence held by Kirkcaldybased William Simpson 8z Sons Transport being cut so that it now expires at the end of next August, instead of in February 1998.
Clean sheet
• Pioneer Distribution, of Snitterfield, Warwickshire, has not collected a prohibition notice since using the maintenance system recommended by the West Midland Traffic Area Office. LA John Mervyn Pugh renewed its licence.
Severe warning
• Birmingham-based John Galvin (Vehicles) received a severe warning about maintenance standards from West Midland DLA Roger Seymour.
Pugh waits
• South Wales LA John Mervyn Pugh adjourned consideration of disciplinary action against the licence held by David Seaborne, trading as D&G Transport, of Swansea, after hearing that Seaborne is facing criminal proceedings.
