HAULIERS TRAVELLING on the M62 in West Yorkshire are set to beneit from a £150m Highways Agency (HA) investment, which aims to increase capacity, reduce congestion and improve safety on the busy route.
The scheme, the irst of its kind in the North, covers a 15.5-mile section of the M62 between junction 25 (Brighouse) and junction 30 (Rothwell). It will see the opening up of the hardshoulder to trafic, which will be open at all times between junctions 25 and 26 in both directions, as well as westbound between junctions 29 and 30. It will also be used during busy periods between junctions 26 and 28 on both directions, and eastbound between junctions 29 and 30.
HA statistics from its similar scheme on the M42 have shown a 50% reduction in accidents, with journey times also improved.
